Video: Houston Police Officer Shot while Helping to End Home Invasion

Three men on Wednesday (Sept. 18) morning were charged with felonies in connection to a northwest Houston robbery that left a police officer wounded, according to Harris County Court records.
Raymond Perez, Michael Perez and Brain Garcia Chavez were all charged with aggravated robbery in connection to the Tuesday morning (Sept. 17) break-in at a home in the 7100 block of Alderney Drive.
Raymond Perez was also charged with aggravated assault of a peace officer and unlawful carry of a weapon, according to court records.
The three men are accused of breaking into a home and holding a woman and her two young children at gunpoint while they committed a robbery, according to police. A neighbor witnessed the break-in and called police soon after the men entered the home, Houston Police Chief Noe Diaz said Tuesday.
When two police officers arrived and entered the home, one of the alleged robbers opened fire, striking officer Scott Durfee in the leg, police said. The shooter ran from the home, and Durfee's partner detained one man who remained inside before applying a tourniquet to the wounded officer.
The alleged shooter was arrested by other officers not far from the home, Diaz said. Later Tuesday, police also arrested a third man in connection to the robbery.
Garcia Chavez is accused of being a getaway driver and lookout during the robbery, according to court records.
Garcia Chavez and Michael Perez were scheduled to make preliminary court appearances on Wednesday morning. Raymond Perez's first court appearance is scheduled for Thursday morning.
